Bleached brows scream drama! And this was what we concentrated on in this lesson. Bleached brows certainly give that shock factor and we be found on the catwalk, editorials or even celebrities as you can see from slideshow below.
Bleached brows could be seen hitting the catwalk during Autumn/Winter 2014 Fashion Week after celebrities Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga bleached their brows during the Summer. The star of the show seemed to be at Alexander McQueen where models walked down the catwalk wearing metallic golds over the eyes and brows - creating a ghostly effect.

So for this lesson I wanted to take the trend that bit further and cover my model's eyebrow completely. To do this you can use a variety of methods from a bar of soap to spirt gum. However, I chose to go with the glue stick method, this method is regualary used by drag queens and I've included a video to show you.
1. I first brushed the brow upwards, making sure it was lying as flat as possible to the skin.
2. Next I used the gluestick in an upwards motion. Making sure the hair was well coated and flat to the skin.
3. After I waited for the glue to dry, I powered using a Ben Nye power in Fair and applied the colour D32 from the DermaColour Palette over the brow. In doing so the red colour conteracts the darkness of the brown.
4. I powered once again and applied a foundation shade that matched my model's skin tone. To finish off..another layer of powder!

While at home I wanted to try and get that bleached brow effect:
1. I first brushed my brows upwards with MAC's brow gel
2. Next I got the colour D4 from the Dermacolour palette and put this on a mascara wand. I then used this to brush through the brows - making sure not to get any of the product on the skin.
3. Then I used a foundation colour, similar to my skin tone and using the mascara wand brushed this through the brow.
Overall, I really liked how both looked turned out. I found that the glue stick method was very effective and could be used in my other classes for period looks such as the 1920s. The second look on myself, was slightly harder. I found that my brows were quite stubbon and wouldnt stay up despite however much gel I used. I also found that because my hairs were so dark it took a few layers to get the opasitity that I wanted. Overall, it is a very striking look and I have many ideas of how I can use it for different editoral style looks.
