WORKSHOP: Preparation for Formal Assessment

In this lesson we had a practise run of what we would like to create for our formative assessment next. From research our four options - Zac Posen SS/15, Tanya Taylor SS/15, Burberry AW/14 and Marc Jacobs SS/14 I chose to go with Zac Posen as I found the look the most interesting and I liked the juxaposition between the matte lips and glossy eyes. For information about health and safety please refer to my 'Health and Safety' post.

I first started with fresh cleansed skin and moisturised my model's lips with Carmex Lip Balm.

For the base I mixed up a suitable colour foundation for my model's skin using MAC's Full Coverage and applied with a foundation brush. Using the Morag Palette I spot concealed where needed and colour corrected the blue-ish tones under the eyes. I done this because the models on the Zac Posen catwalk had flawless skin.

For the eyes I applied a small amount of No 7's Skin Illuminator and topped this with a MAC pigment in the shade 'English Gilt'. Carbon was lightly brushed through the lashline and a small amount of Vaseline was place in the inner corners. A small amount of Mascara was brushed through the lashes.

For the lips I used MAC's Cherry lipliner pencil all over the lips and topped this with a mixture of Ruby Woo and Red, also from MAC.

I lightly powdered the face using Ben Nye's powder in the shade Fair and contoured the cheeks ever so slightly with MAC's Sculpting Powder. Dollymix blusher was brushed lightly on the cheeks and Soft and Gentle onto the tops of the cheeks.

Looking at my reference pictures I choose to keep the brows very natural and simply brished through MAC eyebrow gel to tame the brow.

Overall, I really liked how the eye shadow came out. The products I choose to use created a high shine effect that was similar to what hit the runway. For the lips I struggled with the lipliner pencil especially when lining the lips as I wasn't able to get a nice smooth line. Instead you were able to see where I stopped and started the line. I feel the colour was good, however in the picture I came up slightly more of a pink tone and this is something I'll have to bare in mind when completing my assessment next week.
