Hair Inspiration

Knowing that my costume, mask and headress are going to be the focal points of my look I have chosen to keep the hair and makeup relatively simple. When researching my day of the dead theme, I went slightly further and began to look at Mexican culture as a whole and came across Mexican folk dancers. This is where I have drawn my inspiration for the hair and makeup.

For the hair, I want something that will compliment my large headdress and not distract from it. I was inspired by these images especially of Mexican folk art and Mexican dancers...

As you can see, most have middle partings with either braids or big bouncy hair. So for my final design, I have chosen to go with big curly bouncy hair which I will create using the smallest size of hot sticks. I will also create a strong defined middle parting. Hopefully once the headdress is on, I wont loose too much volume and the both will compliment each other.
