MAGAZINE RESEARCH: Dazed and Confused

Dazed is a British monthly style magazine which was founded in 1991 and was formerly known as Dazed and Confused. Editor Jefferson Hack and famous fashion photographer Rankin were its founders and based the magazine around music, fashion, film, art and literature. The magazine first started as a black and white folded poster which was randomly published sporadically. However, it soon evolved into full colour and was promoted within London club nights.

The magazine has since ventured into many sub-categories within a variety of countries. In 1999 Dazed Film and TV was founded and acted as the first ever production company to produce masthead television broadcast - Renegade TV Gets Dazed, for Channel 4.

In 2001 the Dazed Group launched the luxury biannual AnOther Magazine.

In 2005 the Group launched Another Man, a biannual fashion magazine especially for men.

In April of 2011, Dazed and Confused launched its first ever live festival in East London called Dazed Live featuring performances from musicians Gang Gang Dance, Factory Floor, Black Devil Disco Club, About Group, SBTRKT and Caribou.

In November 2006, Dazed launched a new web based strand of the magazine which they called Dazed Digital, this focuses on fashion, film, music and art news and online events.

In 2010 Dazed, partnered with shoe company Converse, later also with Resident Advisor, and it launched its £6000 Emerging Artist Award in association with the Whitechapel Gallery for UK-based commercially unrepresented artists, under the age of 35.

In April 2002 Dazed & Confused Japan was launched.

On 16 May 2008, Dazed & Confused Korea published its first issue.
