CARMEN BRICK ROLLER SET

In this week’s lesson with Emma we learned how to do a brick set using a set of Babyliss Carmen Rollers. For lots of information on health and safety, please refer to Health and Safety post. The look we were trying to achieve had a side parting and had a lot of volume on the top and curls towards the ends.

Because we wanted a side parting, unlike the previous week where we wet set the hair, we had to position the rollers slightly differently. Things we also had to take into consideration were the amount of hair we put in the roller, too much and the curl would be loose, too little and we would run out of rollers before we finished our style. Also unlike last week, instead of water we used a light mist of setting lotion on each section. We continued like this until the whole head was finished.

Once cooled we began to dress out our styles. As you can see from the picture on the left, I was left with a nice curl but I felt once I started brushing it out it lost a lot of that bounciness. This may have been due to me not putting enough setting lotion in the hair.

Overall I feel like my look could have been better had I had more time. I was rushed towards the end and as a result my hair began to look messy. I think something that would also be good to use next time would be a finishing serum on the ends of the hair to help the look of the spit ends. Once again, timing is something I’ll have to work on.
